Feel Good Medicine
Set in a charming Australian country town in the Southern Highlands, the site sits within a context of historic character, leafy streetscapes, and a vibrant town centre. Boutique shops, cafes, gardens, and cultural attractions draw both locals and visitors. While rich in atmosphere, the architecture along the main street is relatively subdued and lacks complementary urban character.

The brief was to create something layered and engaging, urbane in sensibility, contributing to the public realm, to house a medical centre.

A curving awning, a small café, and an atrium are introduced as a gift to the street, forming a generous urban threshold before the formal entrance to the medical centre. A layered, sculptural form, expressed in a familiar palette of Bowral blue, autumnal tones, and cottage green, celebrates the locality while positioning the building within a contemporary architectural language.
The upper level accommodates a small staff residence and a terrace, commanding views that gently remind occupants of their unique Southern Highlands setting.
